There is the gnat of Twitter, and specifically the Tweetdeck app that buzzes past my field of vision all too frequently at 160 characters a second.
Then my email pops up the fab.com reminder and I can't resist just checking out if there's anything tasty there that I just have to have.
And then I realize that I need to check out fastcodesign for a daily hit of what other's are thinking.
Oh, I forgot I need to update the Tether website.
And the unending stream of client emails cycle past my view and I remember I have to check the LYFE Kitchen website once more before we go live end of day.
And then there's Facebook. Which I can't even get near right now or nothing will get done. And so I settle into concentration to review designs for a client presentation tomorrow when I feel paws on my leg. Ollie wants to go out and visit his favorite tree.
And while I'm outside I see the coolest piece of natural art on the sidewalk so I have to document it with Instagram.
And then I realize that my story, all of our stories, are the passions, musings, friends, strangers, images, and words that come through our lives daily. The lucky thing for us as designers, is that we have an excuse to indulge and let all of these tangents feed our work. Others might call them distractions, but we can call them stimuli. And stimuli is what we live for to feed our creativity.
