Back Story: The raison d'êtrè for this project has really come from personal experiences. I love what I do, but I also have a lot of other interests. There have been quite a few times when I have let work get the best of me and have forgotten to take time out for the other important elements in my life. In every job that I have ever had, I've always made it a personal goal to be generally very pleasant around everyone and keep the mood light. Work is hard enough as it is; the last thing any of us really needs is to be around others who make it more difficult or unpleasant. Developing the Wink products gave me an opportunity to really inject some of my personality into everyday, useful objects that anyone would be able to have and make use of around their desks.
Design: The great part about working on 3-D products is that it allowed me to get away from the computer and get my hands dirty. I did a ton of drawing (which up until then I had simply not been doing enough of), and I did a lot of model making using whatever materials I could find. Sometimes it was frustrating not to have the best tools or materials at my disposal, but after a while, I decided to make it part of the fun to figure out how I could make an effective and strong model using materials that I had access to. The process also allowed me to get involved in working and thinking in ways that I had not done before, primarily dealing with the 3-D issue and the abundance of available materials.
